    September 21 -  28, 2013    Uganda

Rotarians on this trip will initiate a cooperative project with Ugandan Rotarians in their battle to eliminate malaria and the co-related cancer, Burkitt’s lymphoma.  Led by Rotarians from the Rotary Clubs of Seattle and Bellevue, we will meet with Ugandan Rotarians and the Ministry of Health regarding scale-up of malaria elimination activities and planning future joint projects.  We will also join our Ugandan hosts on their activities in malaria education, prevention and bednet  distribution.  A visit will be made to the Uganda Cancer Institute and Burkitt’s diagnostic and treatment clinic.  Besides meetings in the capital city, Kampala, bednet distributions and malaria education campaigns will be held in rural locations.  As an add on, a visit to Uganda’s mountain gorilla sanctuary will be available.

    November 2 – 16   South Africa

Visit Seattle 4’s newest Rotary project in South Africa, a Technology Center for orphans and their community northeast of Durban that was funded by 9 District 5030 clubs. We’ll interact with the orphans and have a work party to help complete the center. Additionally, we’ll visit some of our previous Rotary projects in Cape Town and Johannesburg funded under the Mandela Grants.  Of course there also will be lots of time for sightseeing in each area (city, coastal, Table Mountain, wineries tours.) We’ll even go on a two day wild life safari in Kruger National Park. The trip is all inclusive with roundtrip air, two inter country flights, all lodging, ground transportation and guided tours included. Only lunches and dinners are extra. You need to decide soon because the price is only $4,500, including airfare, and there are only 3 seats left open. Trip dates, from Seattle and back, are November 2-16.
